How do I save something?
Tap Add item, enter or explicitly paste text, choose an expiration, then tap Save item. Titles are optional. Complete HTTP or HTTPS links are recognized automatically. Choose Address for text you want to open in Apple Maps.
How do expiration choices work?
The default is 24 hours. You can also choose 1, 3, or 6 hours; Tonight; Tomorrow; or a custom future time. Tonight and Tomorrow use 11:59 PM in your current local calendar. If Tonight’s cutoff has already passed, it uses the next evening.
Expired items leave the active inbox. The stored item is cleaned up the next time Ghost Paste runs successfully; it does not need to be running at the exact expiration time.
Can I keep an item longer?
Open its menu and choose Another hour, Another 24 hours, or Set expiration. You can also use Give it more time when viewing the full content. Extend an item before it expires.
How do I save from another app?
Use the other app’s Share action, then choose Ghost Paste. If it is hidden, look under More in the share sheet. Review the text or web links and expiration, then tap Save. The extension confirms success after the content is written to local storage.
The share extension supports compatible text and HTTP/HTTPS web links. Images, documents, and other unsupported attachments are not saved. Some apps share a page title and a URL as separate items.
Where is my data stored?
In local storage on your device, shared by the app and share extension. Ghost Paste has no account, backend, or developer-operated cloud synchronization. Device backups may include the app’s data.
What happens when I copy, open, or delete?
Copy puts the exact original content on the system clipboard. Open sends a valid web link to the system or an address to Apple Maps after you tap. Delete removes the item from Ghost Paste, with a brief undo option. Clear all in Settings asks for confirmation.
Deletion and expiration do not erase historical backups, clipboard content, or copies in other apps.
Why did an item disappear?
Its expiration may have passed, or it may have been deleted or cleared. Expired content is intentionally not kept in an archive or trash folder. Device clock changes affect comparisons with the stored expiration timestamp.
What if I see a storage error?
Reopen Ghost Paste and use Try again if shown. Existing unreadable data is preserved rather than overwritten. If the issue continues, email support with the error message and app/iOS versions. Avoid reinstalling the app while you still need locally saved content.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Saving, reading, copying, expiration, and deletion use local storage. Opening an external website, using online Maps features, viewing these pages, or emailing support may need a network connection.
Which devices are supported?
Ghost Paste version 1.0 is designed for iPhone running iOS 17 or later. There are no accounts, subscriptions, analytics, or expiration notifications in version 1.0.
